This was a quick one night turn around piece I did for New York Magazine for an article about sports editor Joe Sexton leaving The New York Times. Considering I only had a few hours to do this, EXTREMELY limited photo reference of what this guy actually looks like, and absolutely no knowledge of the story before I got the job….I actually think this came out pretty nicely. 

I have been noticing a sea-change on the technical side of my work recently. My line work has become more rigid…more frantic. Up close and in detail in looks like a complete mess, but zoomed out it looks more elegant than any thing I have done in the past. It’s an odd mix, and I have not exactly decided if it is something I want to keep around or not. 
Twelve years ago today my father died in front of me. I hope your day is going better than mine.
